The aims of the ABC Animal Sanctuary are to rescue abandoned animals and animals in distress. The animals are then restored to health and rehabilitated if possible before looking for a new home. In some instances when the animals are very old or need permanent special diets or have personality disorders they are guaranteed a home for the rest of their life.

 

All Dogs Rescue is a rescue and re homing organisation based in Kent. All dogs re homed by us leave neutered & chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes.

Beech Tree Bunnies is a Rabbit and Guinea Pig rescue centre, based near Market Harborough, Leicestershire, UK. We have under cover facilities for 30 pets and outdoor retirement areas for several more. We started in January 2002 with five rabbits and one Guinea Pig and just grew from there. We are totally self funded, helped by volunteers, and raising money in various ways from Stamp collecting, holding stalls at the local boot sale and Market, selling plants, boarding pets while people are on holiday. We try not to turn down any pets, unless we are absolutely full and those that can’t be re-homed for any reason, just stay on in our retirement area.

I keep all unwanted cage birds alongside my own pets - they consist of many varities from a cockatiel size to a parrot. I fund everything from outdoor and indoor housing to lighting heating food "Vet Bills" toys and hard labour along with LOVE & ATTENTION all comes out of my own pocket that has many holes in it! We are a branch of the Cat Action Trust 1977 charity, operating in the Ayrshire and district area since 1992. Since we began, we have helped over 10000 cats and prevented the birth of hundreds of thousands through our neutering activities. All of the cats and kittens in our care are fully inoculated prior to being homed and those old enough to have the operation are also neutered or spayed. Helping the stray and feral cats of Leeds live a healthier, happier life. Feral Cat Welfare cares about the abandoned and stray cats living outdoors and struggling to find food and shelter wherever they can. Our aim is to tackle the problem at source by encouraging cat owners to have their cats neutered so preventing kittens from being born outside, which then grow up to be nervous or semi-wild (feral) and consequently unwanted. We raise funds to buy food and cat kennels, and when possible, foster kittens/cats until homes can be found. We are currently recruiting volunteers to join this new group.

Freshfields Animal Rescue is a non profit making animal charity caring for abandoned, abused and unwanted animals. Everyday at least one more unfortunate creature finds itself with Freshfields as its only hope for a future. We tend to any health issues, often at expense, caring for them and nurturing them in the hope that we can re-home them to loving people in the future.

Friends of Orkney Ferals is run entirely by volunteers who give their time for free. All money from memberships and donations is used 100% for the benefit of feral cats and kittens here in Orkney. Firstly we never "put down" any healthy cats/kittens. Our policy is simple: all cats are treated with kindness, be they feral or domestic. You will be visited by one of our fully trained trapping teams, who will use only approved trap cages. We never leave cats/kittens in the traps for more than a few minutes after being trapped. They are transferred to small cages and covered with a blanket to keep them calm. We never leave traps set and unattended, especially overnight. Your cats will then be transported to the veterinary surgery and neutered, flea and worm treated. Cats are returned the same day. Kittens under 4 months can sometimes be taken and socialised by members of the group, space permitting.

Furry Friends Animal Rescue is a home run rescue in Old Coulsdon, Surrey. We deal with various types of animals including dogs, cats and smaller caged animals. We are non-destruct and operate a backup for life policy.

Great Dane Rescue based in Wiltshire in the UK

The charity Greatwood was founded in 1993 and was originally dedicatedto rescuing, caring and rehabilitating former racehorses that had been abandoned or are suffering. Due to injury, temperament or age some of our horses cannot be re-homed so Greatwood cares for them into their retirement in our sanctuary. We currently have 51 hoses in our care and have re-homed hundreds over the years. For those horses that cannot be re-homed, our educational progamme for children with special needs, called Horse Power, now provides them with a useful occupation. In 2006 the Charities Commision approved a new objective for Greenwood to develop and deliver unique programmes of education via the interaction with horses. The Horse Power was developed and using the horses in our sanctuary helps over 300 children with special educational needs per year at Greatwood. The number of children this programme can reach will increase significantly in 2011/2012, with Horse Power being delivered not only to schools in Wiltshire, but also in Somerset and Dorset via partnerships with Millfield School and Bryanston who have been trained and equipped by Greatwood, allowing Horse Power to touch more and more lives.

We are only a very small rescue, dedicated to helping stray and unwanted dogs find a new home. All our costs are met by donations and fundraising activities such as car boot sales, etc. Our terms and conditions for adoption are available on request. You will be asked to agree to them and sign an adoption form before adoption. We secure rescue spaces for these dogs with reputable rescues such as the Dogs Trust, Blue Cross and RSPCA, together with a number of excellent smaller rescues and breed rescues. We will also transport them to the rescue and cover many thousands of miles every month. We also take in dogs for rehoming ourselves via a network of fantastic and dedicated foster homes. All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. As a non-profit, self funded voluntary organisation we give up our spare time to ensure the welfare & assist in the re-homing of non-domesticated non-native wild animals which have been abandoned, confiscated, surrendered to rescue centres or the authorities, or become surplus within Zoos, colleges or other educational institutions. Our main aim is to ensure that the animals in our care receive the best homes, with the highest standard of care that we can find. We can even accept specimens via donation, where the current owner may not have the correct license. Our only concern is the welfare of the animal. To date we have never been forced to euthanase any healthy animals that we have accepted for re-homing, we aim to maintain that record!

We take in, and rehome various sorts of small animals, from tiny pets such as Mice, and Hamsters, upto Chinchillas, Degus and Guinea Pigs, but the main concentration is Rats presently.

TVAW rescues and rehomes cats and kittens. It works mainly in Reading, Henley on Thames, Maidenhead and surrounding areas. It also operates a lost and found register and a low cost neutering scheme for cats. It is operated by volunteers and depends on donations to fund its work

Alexandra Bastedo has been rescuing and homing/rehoming animals for nearl 30 years. Her (private) sanctuary at her home in West Sussex has over 150 animal residents including ponies, donkies, mini-Shetlands, cats, goats, pigs, sheep and domestic poultry. Tiggywinkles takes in all sick and injured British wildlife at its purpose built wildlife hospital. The entire aim is to rescue and rehabilitate back to the wild. They do not have a put down policy.

We are the only rescue centre in west and mid wales taking in and looking after swans and birds of prey in the Counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and releasing them after care back into the wild. We are recognised by both the RSPCA and the RSPB and Maria Evans has been awarded on several occasions a number of awards acknowledging the work that she has done over the past 20 years. Recently she has had to take some 23 Swans into our Centre that have been CHIP OILED from a lake in The Swansea Enterprise Park, these Swans having been contaminated by a Company that had a ruptured pipe releasing chip oil in the lakes. This cleaning operation takes time and money to feed the Swans whilst they are in care and ensure that they are fully cleaned from the chip oil before they are able to be released back into the lakes after The environment Agency have told us that the lakes are totally cleaned Currently my wife Maria is still washing the Swans and will be finished in the next week but we at the centre are still awaiting advice to say that the lakes are clear of the oil Ends

The Rescue Centre takes in and cares for Swans and Birds of Prey that have become injured for variety of reasons and these birds are cared for and then hopefully released back into the environment. Should this not be possible then as decision is made for them to be held at he Centre for good The Rescue is in the current position of finalising a Trust status. Over the Years I have taken in many different Mediteranean tortoise that needs either rehabilitating through poor care in a previous home or through owners that were just too old to care for their shelled friend any longer. I keep Hermann's my self and I am always able to add females to the group easily but boys are always a little more troublesome......but that does not mean that we wouldn't be able to find him a forever loving home with another family! All will be done to either put you in contact with the right information for you...or to give your shelled companion the love and care you know they deserve, so please get in contact if you either need advice or a new home for your companion. All my tortoise have the neccessary home that they deserve and are outside in the garden for at least 12 hours a day and then brought into secure area at night time for security. All fed on a weed,plant and flower diet with the correct supplementation of nutrobal,limestone flour and cuttle fish bone.All hibenated every year. We have one of the best vets in the country here in Leeds too in Holly House vets, they specialize in tortoise care, and are only a few minutes drive away should the need ever arrive. All of our tortoise are treated like one of the family and we will do everything in our power to make sure they get the best care possible.

Fiona cares for over 260 rescued animals including 26 horses entirely on her own. She has been vegan for 20 years & won the 2004 vegan achievement award from the vegan society. She is a spokesperson for IDA the US based charity. Fiona also runs marathons to raise awareness (30th in London this year 2hr49) Fiona is also a Fire-Fighter - Support is greatly needed

We are a wildlife rehabilitation hospital 24/7. the main aim is to return injured and sick wildlife back to wild if that is not possible then to relieve suffering. We deal with all british wildlife from a mouse up to a deer and cover all of wiltshire and over the borders.

Our haven is run from our home which means we are available most of the time. We are happy to take in any wild bird or raptor but we are unable to collect.
